Like the Lonely Ghost, the Triforce Delay utilizes the Spin FV-1 controlled by a 24LC32A EEPROM to create 3 unique, rich, and hopefully inspiring delays. Moreover, your dry signal importantly remains 100% analog and tonally transparent. Each effect is mixed back with the dry signal using an analog mixer (more below), with noon being a 50/50 mix.
Triforce gets its name from the greatest video game series in history. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, I recommend you remedy that immediately.
Controls
TIME - Adjusts how long the delay takes to echo back. At minimum settings, the delay line is subtle and can make a great slapback. As TIME is increased, the echoes become more and more farther spaced.
REPEAT - Controls how many times the echo repeats before they become inaudible. As REPEAT is increased, the number of audible repeats increases. This is a particularly important control in setting the right space and texture of your delay.
MAGIC - The function of MAGIC depends on which mode is selected with the 3-way toggle switch.
When the ‘60s mode is selected, this is a pseudo “tape age” control. At minimum controls, a great deal of treble is rolled off, and the repeats are distorted. As the control is increased, the delay is brighter sounding, and the repeats are less “tape textured”.
In ‘70s mode, MAGIC functions like the tone control on a guitar. At minimum settings, the repeats are very dark and muffled, and as the control is increased the repeats become brighter.
In ‘80s mode, MAGIC controls the modulation depth of the delay repeats. At minimum settings, there is essentially no modulation. As the control is increased, more modulation is introduced on the repeats.
MIX - Is a true analog mixer that sets the balance of dry to reverb signal. At minimum MIX settings, your signal is 100% dry. At noon, the balance is essentially 50/50. At maximum MIX, the output is 100% modulated reverb. The MIX control is incredibly helpful in getting the right balance, along with DWELL and RATE settings.
MODE -
-
Toggle UP = ‘60s = tape delay voice. This mode's tone was inspired by the EP-3 Echoplex. You'll notice a bit less regular modulation, a darker tone, and an overall more ambient and less "stadium" vibe than the RACK setting
-
Toggle MIDDLE = ‘70s = multi-head (aka – rhythmic repeat) tape delay. This mode was inspired by units like the Roland RE-201 Space Echo and Binson Echorec, which were capable of multiple delay lines resulting in somewhat rhythmic repeats. It's personality is similar to that of "TAPE" but with a little different voice as well as the multiple delay lines.
- Toggle DOWN = ‘80s = rackmount modulated delay. This mode's tone was inspired by the TC Electronic 2290 unit. Clear, pristine but warm. MAGIC can be used to make this be a neutral, authentic delay sound...or more of textural or stadium feel.
MASTER - Controls the global output level of the pedal. This can be easily set to be slightly quieter, the same level, or louder than your bypassed signal volume. Again, this can be used to help achieve the intended feel when Triforce is in use.
